Software Interface Questions
  1. I am getting an Acrobat Reader error that states "Acrobat Reader could not open [filename].pdf because it is either not a supported file or because it has been corrupted" or "File does not begin with %PDF". What should I do?

Check your browser settings. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Settings. Under Check for newer versions of stored pages, select Automatically.

  2. I cannot see the entire application on my screen. What can I do?

Change your screen resolution by doing the following:

    1. Open the Windows Display Properties dialog box. (Right-click your computer desktop and select Properties.)
    2. Click the Settings tab.
    3. Under Screen Resolution, increase the resolution.

For example, if it is currently set to 800x600, change it to 1024x768 or higher.

    4. On the confirmation message window, click Yes to save the settings.

If you have trouble with this procedure, request help from your IT staff.

  3. When I enter information, should I capitalize it?

Use mixed case when you enter data into the system. When you enter a customer name and address, enter it with appropriate case, as you would if you were writing a letter. For example, enter John Smith instead of JOHN SMITH or john smith. This follows normal word processing standards.

  4. It takes a long time for Acrobat Reader to open. Is there anything I can do about this?

Once you open Acrobat Reader the first time in a day, leave it open by minimizing the window once you finish with it. Then the next time it is needed, the new file will use the window that is currently open rather than taking a long time to open a new window.

  5. The online help keeps disappearing when I’m using it. How can I bring it back up?

It is best to align the online help with the application window so you can see both at the same time. (For more information, see Viewing the Online Help Next to the 3M MVS Console.) However, if the help disappears while you are using it, press Alt + Tab to bring it back up.
