Finding/Updating a Vehicle

You can find a vehicle record to view or update it, independent of a title or registration transaction. When you update a vehicle record, the updated information is reflected in any windows that display this information.

Tip: Some vehicles, such as small trailers and small semi-trailers, do not require a VIN. When a vehicle does not have a VIN, NOVIN appears on the vehicle record where the VIN would otherwise appear. To search for a vehicle that does not have a VIN, you must search using an alternate identification number, such as the plate number. You can also search for the customer and include the vehicles that the customer is associated with in the search results. For more information, see Search window.

To find and update a vehicle
  1. On the VRT menu, select Manage Vehicle.

    The Search window appears.

  2. Enter search parameters to find the vehicle record you want to update.
  3. Click Search.

The Results tab appears, listing the results of your search.

  4. To view vehicle details, double-click the record you want to update.

The Vehicle Maintenance window appears, populated with detailed vehicle information.

  5. Update the vehicle information as necessary.

Tip: If you want to compare the vehicle records with VINA or NMVTIS, click VINA Inquiry to open the View VINA Results window. You might see discrepancies between these sources.

  6. Click Save.

The updated vehicle information is saved and the window closes.
