Issuing a Junking Certificate

You can issue a junking certificate for a vehicle as allowed by the state regulations surrounding junking a vehicle.

You can also complete the following supplemental procedure when you issue a junking certificate:

To issue a junking certificate
  1. On the VRT menu, select Title Transactions > Junking Certificate.

The Junking Certificate Prequalifier window appears.

  2. Enter the date the vehicle was junked.
  3. Enter the VIN or title number.
  4. If you want to include additional customer information, under Customers, enter up to three owner customer identification numbers for the vehicle.

Note: While you can enter them in the prequalifier window, security interests, lessees, and primary operators, and dealer reassigns are not applicable to junking certificates.

  5. Click Continue.

When the vehicle and customer records that you entered are identified, the Junking Certificate window appears.

Note: If you entered a partial identification number or if the vehicle or customer you entered is not found, the Search window appears. For more information, see Entering Information on a Prequalifier Window.

  6. Enter the vehicle junking information.

Tip: For specific information about the individual fields on the window, press F1 in the window to open the online help or see Junking Certificate window.

  7. Click Commit.

MOVRS checks for errors. If you need help resolving errors, see Errors, Discretionary Edits, and Warnings. When all errors are resolved or if no errors are found, the junking certificate is issued and the window closes.
