Exception Management

An exception is a sanction, stop, or warning placed on a customer or a vehicle. A customer or a vehicle can have multiple active exceptions at any one time. Exceptions can exist for a predefined time period or they can be open-ended.

Exceptions can be assigned internally or externally. Internally assigned exceptions can originate from the state vehicle agency or the county treasurer. Externally assigned exceptions can originate from the state court information system or from departments that upload information in nightly or weekly batch processes.

When you process a transaction, the system searches for exceptions associated with the customers and vehicles included in the transaction. If a customer or vehicle record has an exception, it is indicated on the transaction window.
