If you are authorized, you can print titles using either of the two methods described in this section. First, however, you must have been assigned proper system permissions, you must have a profile set up that uses the correct location, and you must set that profile as your default profile.
The title printing process varies by the type of title and is dependent on what happens prior to printing:
Regular and salvage titles—as well as junking certificates—go to a queue for approval. When an authorized user approves the title, it goes to a print queue where it stays for 35 days from the date it was approved, unless it was selected for immediate printing using the methods described below. If, during the waiting period, the title becomes associated with a security interest holder (either by a system user or an automated process), then the title is removed from the print queue and is marked in the system as electronically held. Otherwise, at the end of the waiting period, the title prints automatically as part of a batch printing process (typically overnight) and is sent to the address specified in the Title Mailing Instructions area of the window that was used to create the title request.
Electronic titles, which are typically used for vehicles that have security interest holders, are not printed. They are not sent to the print queue until the last security interest holder is released, at which point the title changes from electronic to not electronic and, once approved, is printed in the next regular batch print run (typically overnight) unless selected for immediate printing.
Replacement titles, once approved, print in the next regular batch print run (typically overnight) unless selected for immediate printing.
Note: Even electronic titles can be printed; for example, if a security interest holder requires a physical title. To do so, request a replacement title. Once the title is approved, it changes from electronic to not electronic and is sent to a print queue for overnight printing. For more information, see Requesting a Replacement Title.
To print an approved title
Authorized users can specify to print a title as part of approving a title. To do so, on the Approve Title window, select either the Print Title or Print Immediately check box before clicking Approve. These check boxes are disabled if a security interest holder has been associated with the title. For more information, see Approving a Pending Title.
To print a title is after it is approved (that is, when it is already in the print queue), complete the following steps:
On the VRT menu, select Approve Title > Manage Title Pending Print.
