Vehicle Records

MOVRS has one core database and access to two additional databases that you can use to validate vehicle information.

The core Kansas MOVRS database stores records of vehicles that were or are currently titled in Kansas.

The NADA database is a commercial source of vehicle definitions and value based on the VIN of the vehicle.

The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) is the national database of vehicle title history information, which is used to validate the authenticity of the title that was surrendered.

When you add a vehicle record to MOVRS, it generally pre-populates the vehicle details—such as list price and weight—from VINA based on the VIN. MOVRS also searches NMVTIS to make sure that the title record of the vehicle is clean. Not every VIN, however, turns up results from VINA. If you are adding a record of vehicle that is not found in VINA based on the VIN, you can search for records of similar vehicles in VINA or in the Kansas database to populate the vehicle details.

Use MOVRS to manage records for vehicles that are registered in the state.
