Voiding a Registration

You can void a registration if it was issued by mistake. You can void back to any of the previous registrations under the current vehicle ownership.

Important: You can void a registration only if the vehicle has a previous registration in the system that can be reinstated. Voiding the registration does not void the title.

To void a registration
  1. On the VRT menu, select Registration Transactions > Void Registration.

The Void Registration Prequalifier window appears.

  2. Enter the vehicle or customer identification number.
  3. Click Continue.

When the vehicle or customer that you entered is identified, the Select Registration window appears.

Note: If you entered a partial identification number or if the vehicle or customer you entered is not found, the Search window appears. For more information, see Entering Information on a Prequalifier Window.

  4. Select the registration that you want to reinstate when the current registration is voided and click Select.

    The Void Registration window appears.

  5. Review the registration and previous information.
  6. To void the registration, click Commit.

The registration is voided and the selected previous registration is reinstated. If the reinstated registration is or becomes past due, penalties may be assessed.
