You can issue a salvage title for a vehicle as allowed by the state regulations surrounding salvaging a vehicle.
Note: Salvage titles are not applicable to all vehicle types. Before you issue a salvage title, make sure that the type of the vehicle is one for which salvage titles apply.
You can also complete the following supplemental procedures when you issue a salvage title:
The Salvage Prequalifier window appears.
Note: You must enter customer identification numbers for transfer on death designees into the owner field on the prequalifier window if you want the system to carry over the transfer on death designees as owners.
Note: You must release or transfer Security interest holders to the new title.
Note: While you can enter them in the prequalifier window, lessees and primary operators are not applicable to salvage titles.
When the vehicle and customer records that you entered are identified, the Salvage window appears.
Note: If you entered a partial identification number or if the vehicle or customer you entered is not found, the Search window appears. For more information, see Entering Information on a Prequalifier Window.
Note: If the vehicle is registered as a courtesy registration, to complete the transaction you must use the Corrected Title window. For more information, see Correcting a Mistake on a Title.
Tip: For specific information about the individual fields on the window, press F1 in the window to open the online help or see Salvage window.
MOVRS checks for errors. If you need help resolving errors, see Errors, Discretionary Edits, and Warnings. When all errors are resolved or if no errors are found, the payment processing application opens.
Note: For a list of other processing options, see Transaction processing options.
Tip: If you need specific help with the cash drawer, see Processing a Payment in the Cash Drawer and Finance online help.
After you finish processing the payment, the Finalize Transaction window appears.
The Generate Credentials window appears.
The documents produced in the transaction generate and print.
Note: If you finalize multiple transactions at once, credentials are generated automatically.
