Recreate a title when the original title document exists but it does not exist in MOVRS.
If the existing title is from Kansas, recreate it using the procedure below. If the existing title is from a different state, complete a title and registration transaction to get a new in-state title; see Issuing a New Title and Registration. If the out-of-state title is a salvage title, then issue an in-state salvage title; see Issuing a Salvage Title. You can then bring the salvage vehicle out of salvage by completing a title and registration transaction.
To recreate a title in MOVRS, the vehicle and associated customers must exist in the database. If either the customer or the vehicle isn't in the database, you must add it. For more information, see:
Tip: Search for the vehicle using the title number, VIN, and plate number.
When you recreate a title, you can re-use a prior title number as long as a title with that number is not active in the system. This allows you to re-create a title that was erroneously cancelled. The recreated title in the system has the same title number as the physical title document.
Before recreating a title, you must enter prior ownership information. For more information, see Entering Prior Ownership Information.
The Recreate Title Prequalifier window appears.
The Recreate Title window appears.
When the vehicle and customer records that you entered are identified, the Recreate Title window appears.
Tip: For specific information about the individual fields on the window, press F1 in the window to open the online help or see Recreate Title window.
MOVRS checks for errors. If you need help resolving errors, see Errors, Discretionary Edits, and Warnings. When all errors are resolved or if no errors are found, the title is saved and the window closes.
