Use the Customer Maintenance window to add, edit, and view customer information. For example, you can update an address when a customer moves to a new location or update a name to reflect a change from maiden name to married name. Always use the most current information when you update a customer record.
The Customer Maintenance window appears when you click a Customer Name link in a transaction window. You can also open the window from the menu and the Search window:

The common area at the top of this window displays basic information about the active customer. Likewise, the buttons on the bottom are for the window as a whole, regardless of which tab is showing. Changes made on any of the tabs in the Customer Maintenance window appear on all applicable tabs after you click Save.

Inactivate Customer |
Click to inactivate the customer record. Before doing so, first you must complete all business with the customer (meaning all vehicles are transferred out of the customer's name and there are no pending fines, exceptions, etc.), and you must specify a reason in the Inactivated Reason field on the General tab. |
Save |
Click to save the customer information and close the window. Changes made on any of the tabs in the window appear on all applicable tabs after you click Save. |
Cancel |
Click to close the window without saving. |

Customer Type |
Indicates the kind of customer record: individual or organization. After the customer record is saved, you cannot change the type. |
Security Interest Holder |
Applicable mainly to MOVRS. Select to designate this customer as a security interest holder. If you select the Security Interest Holder check box, you must enter an address for the customer on the Address tab. Only DMV can designate a customer as an SI holder. If the box is inactive, contact DMV if you need to add or modify an SI holder. Note: A customer who holds an SI does not need to be designated as an SI holder. The SI holder designation is an indication that can help you group and find the major SI holders that you use. |
Confidence Rating |
Applicable mainly to DRIVS. Displays the confidence rating status for the corresponding customer: authenticated, unique or other. The status rating indicates whether the customer's identification information was verified by a third-party interface, supervisory personnel, or was captured (without verification) by an end user. For more information on confidence ratings, see Authenticating Customers. |
Inactivated Reason |
Select a reason why you are making the customer record inactive, such as Deceased, Merged, and so on. |

Use this tab to view a summary of all current and historical customer information on one screen. You can change the as-of date to view the customer record as of a specific point in time. Jurisdiction of Record |
Displays the jurisdiction in which the customer has a valid driver's license or identification card. |
Confidence Rating |
Displays the confidence rating status for the corresponding customer: authenticated, unique or other. Effective Date |
Displays the date the corresponding row of customer information became effective. The system sets the effective date for any new or changed record as the current date. The effective date cannot be modified. |
End Date |
Displays the last date the corresponding row of customer information was valid. For example, the date on which a new address was assigned to the customer. |
Add Row |

Displays the kind of identification listed in the corresponding row, such as SSN, Driver's License, and so on. You cannot change the identification type. The system allows only one active identification per type unless it is an AKA type. |

Displays the identification number of the customer during the active time of the corresponding row. |
State |
If the identification is state-issued, displays the state in which it was issued. This is selectively required based on the ID type. For example, DL number requires that you enter the state. |
Country |
If the identification is country-issued, displays the country in which it was issued. For example, passport number requires that you enter the country. |
Priority |
Displays the priority of the identification information of the customer during the active time of the corresponding row. |
Effective Date |
Displays the date the corresponding row of customer information became effective. |

Select if mail delivery attempt failed. This status indicator is temporary, and should be cleared when the new address information emerges and is entered into the system. |

Displays the date the corresponding row of customer information became effective. |
End Date |
Displays the last date the corresponding row of customer information was valid. For example, the date on which a contact value was updated for the customer. |
