Manage Vehicle Description Window

Purpose

Use the Manage Vehicle Description window to view or edit vehicle details received from your VIN decoding subscription service (currently NADA). Authorized users can also use this window to enter vehicle details.

Navigation

To open the Manage Vehicle Description window to view or edit vehicle details:

  1. On the VRT menu, select Manage Vehicle Definition.

    The Manage Vehicle Description Prequalifier window appears.

  2. Enter the search criteria to locate the vehicle description you want to view.
  3. Click Search.

    The grid area populates with vehicle definitions that match the search criteria.

  4. Double-click a row.

  1. On the VRT menu, select Manage Vehicle Definition.

    The Manage Vehicle Description Prequalifier window appears.

  2. Click Add Vehicle Description.

Window element

Usage

VIN Prefix

Displays the first 10 digits of the VIN.

Year

Displays the model year of the vehicle.

Make

Displays the brand of vehicle built by the manufacturer, such as Ford, Honda, Lexus, and so on. For example, Toyota manufactures the Lexus brand of vehicles.

Model

Displays the type of vehicle, such as Escape, Civic, LS250, and so on.

Style

Displays the vehicle style, such as two-door (2D), four-door (4D), and so on.

Identification
  • VIN Prefix—Displays the first 10 digits of the VIN.
  • Year—Displays the model year of the vehicle.
  • Make—Displays the brand of vehicle built by the manufacturer, such as Ford, Honda, Lexus, and so on. For example, Toyota manufactures the Lexus brand of vehicles.
  • Ellipsis button small—Click to open the Make Search window and search for a make that did not appear in the Make field. Double-click an entry from the results to assign it.
  • Model—Displays the type of vehicle, such as Escape, Civic, LS250, and so on.
  • Style—Displays the vehicle style, such as two-door (2D), four-door (4D), and so on.

Attributes
  • MSRP—Displays the manufacturer's gross vehicle weight.
  • Class Code—Displays a three-digit identifier representing the value of the vehicle based on MSRP.
  • Retail Value Factor—Displays the factor used to calculate the retail value of the vehicle.
  • Taxable Value—Displays the value of the vehicle that can be used to calculate taxes, based on the values entered in the MSRP, Class Code, and Retail Value Factor fields.
  • # Cylinders—Select or type the number of engine cylinders in the vehicle, such as four (4), six (6), rotary (R), and so on.
  • Fuel Type—Select or type the kind of material used to power the vehicle, such as gasoline or diesel.
  • NCIC Make—Enter the NCIC make code for the vehicle.
  • NCIC Series—Enter the NCIC series code for the vehicle.
  • VIN Vehicle Type—Select the vehicle type.
  • Weight—Enter the weight of the vehicle.
  • MGVW—Enter the manufacturer's gross vehicle weight.

Save As

Click to save a new version of the vehicle definition that you can modify.

Save

Click to save any changes.

Cancel

Click to close the window without saving.
